2 Layer Birthday Cake. This is another trick to ensure the cake is level by filling gaps if needed. Fill the cake with buttercream: You can either use a piping bag, or you can just use your offset spatula to spread an even layer of buttercream over the cake layer.
In a large mixing bowl, add butter, sugar and vanilla and beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until pale and creamy.
